Unmissable in scale and impact, Berlin's great sights are scattered over the city, conjuring up inspiring views and deep-felt stories. The Kurfürstendamm or simply Ku'damm is Berlin's most well-known shopping street. Stretching for 3.5 km (2 miles) westwards from the Memorial Church, it is a wide boulevard flanked by shops, hotels and restaurants, and despite competition from the East's up-and-coming shopping areas around Friedrichstrasse and Hackescher Markt it has maintained its image as the place to shop and stroll. The liveliest section is between Breitscheidplatz and the fashionable Fasanenstrasse. Further down towards Olivaer Platz the Ku'damm becomes more sedate: there are more exclusive shops including some from such renowned names as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Jil Sander and Gianni Versace. The top end of the Ku'damm at Breitscheidplatz merges into the Tauentzienstrasse, less glamorous than the Ku'damm but actually busier and full of shops - it's here where you'll find department stores such as the famous KaDeWe.
Berlin is famous for its Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag and Dom. The Charlottenburg park, the television tower and the city's most beautiful square Gendarmenmark is also worth visiting. More attractions: the Jungfernheide, the Plötzensee north from Speer, the Tegel forest with its lake is a beautiful tourist destination. Culture lovers also have plenty opportunities to visit. Berlin's famous museums are located on the Museum Island. Among others the Pergamonmuseum can also be found there, which is the home of the Asian and Islamic art museum.
